High-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) therapy is a non-invasive body contouring treatment that uses electromagnetic fields to stimulate muscle contractions. HIFEM sends rapidly changing magnetic fields that create electric currents in the body's tissues. This stimulates motor neurons, which causes muscles to contract. The contractions damage the muscle, which triggers the body's natural healing process to produce new, firmer muscle tissue.

HIFEM can be used to target areas with high concentrations of fat cells, such as the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, and upper arms.

What to expect:

You will lay down while the applicators are applied over the treatment area for 30 minutes. During the treatment you may feel intense yet tolerable muscle contractions along with heating sensation which is comparable to hot stone massage.

There is no downtime with this procedure. You can get back to your daily routine right after the treatment.

Side Effects:

The most common side effect of high intensity focused electromagnetic therapy (HIFEM) is mild muscle soreness in the treated area, similar to the feeling after a strenuous workout, which usually resolves within a day or two; other potential side effects may include temporary redness, warmth, or discomfort at the treatment site, and in some cases, slight menstrual irregularities.

Contraindications:

High Intensity Focused Electromagnetic Therapy (HIFEM) contraindications include:

  • Pregnancy

  • Implanted medical devices like pacemakers or defibrillators

  • Cancer

  • Recent surgery

  • Bleeding disorders

  • Epilepsy and severe neurological conditions

It's also generally advised to avoid HIFEM treatment if you are close to menstruation or have significant fat deposits in the treatment area.
